FastOrange Wild Yeast Agar
Bottles of FastOrange Wild Yeast Agar are ready to use and do not require sterilization. Simply melt the agar in its bottle, pour the liquid into sterile petri dishes, and allow to solidify.
Spread samples, whether pure yeast or product in process, onto an agar plate and observe daily for up to 5 days for growth and color change. If wild yeasts are present, they will grow up into easily visible colonies, often accompanied by a color shift towards yellow around their perimeter.
PIKA FastOrange Wild Yeast Agar detects all of the following: typical sour fermentation yeasts; Brettanomyces species; super-attenuating S. cerevisiae var. diastaticus yeasts, which include Belgian brewing strains such as Saison and Wit; as well as other non-Saccharomyces species, such as Candida, Hanseniaspora, Pichia, and Zygosaccharomyces.
